(New York, NY) November 17, 2006 -- The Water Channel, "Television's New Wave", has announced it will air a "Lunkerville" marathon on Saturday, November 25th, from 7pm to 11pm. Eight back-to back episodes of the popular, award-winning fishing show will air in prime-time, on Saturday night, during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
This is very exciting for us! Lunkerville will have major exposure during one of the most popular television-watching weekends of the year, says Michael de Avila (Mike D.), host and co-producer of the show. A lot of folks are at home with family on Thanksgiving weekend, and this marathon will give new viewers a chance to see the show and get hooked too. Lunkerville is a fun program for the whole family, not just fishermen, and we're very happy Water Channel sees the value in airing it during this peak broadcast time. Personally, I'm psyched to be up against the usual holiday lineup of Clint Eastwood and James Bond marathons!"
The Water Channel is the first television network to showcase purely water-related sports, family lifestyle, recreation and leisure entertainment worldwide. It is currently available in over 15 million homes on the DISH satellite network (channel 217) and dozens of cable systems throughout the United States, with plans to go to 50 million by year end, 2007. When the channels directors first spotted Lunkerville episodes at The New York Boat Show last January, they were hooked. The shows production quality, together with its reality entertainment appeal, is just the kind of programming we're looking for, its a perfect fit, said Howard Fried, Director of Programming & Operations for the Water Channel. "And Mike D. is an engaging host with the demeanor of an everyday guy that anyone would want to go fishing with. In my opinion, Lunkerville is the most original and interesting fishing show on television today."
Each week, host Mike D uses his compelling charisma to charm both guest and fish out of the water. In his signature laid-back manner, he reels in the camaraderie, the banter and the bass. And viewers are eating it up.
At the 2006 Sportsman Channel Awards in Las Vegas this past February, the show picked up another Viewer Favorite Fishing Show award for the second year in a row. Last year it was also awarded Viewer Favorite On-Camera Personality", Best Freshwater Fishing Episode all in its first season.
